SCHF is looking for a Chief Financial Officer.
Summary
SCHF is seeking an experienced CFO to lead financial strategy and operations, supporting its mission to enhance community health. Key responsibilities include managing audits, directing the Accounting Department, overseeing budgets and financial reports, and providing financial insights for strategic decision-making. The CFO will also collaborate on investment management, participate in grant evaluations, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to SCHF’s mission.
Essential Job Functions
- Support the furtherance of the Foundations mission.
- Participate, plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organizations fiscal function and performance.
- Manage all audit and tax reporting for all SCHFs departments.
- Oversee operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Participate in the grant making process by evaluating financial viability of recipients. Prepare reports to the Board regarding grant awards and available funds.
- Work in collaboration with the CIO to oversee management of the Foundations investment portfolio to ensure adherence to Investment Policy and safeguarding of assets.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO and the Board in performing their responsibilities.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provide continual improvement of all financial, reporting and budgeting processes through collaboration with staff and department directors.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting SCHF; i.e. new programs and strategies, evaluation of potential alliances and acquisitions.
- Optimize the handling of bank, deposit, and investment management relationships. Initiate appropriate strategies to enhance financial position.
- Act as an advisor on contracts and pricing decisions into which the corporation may enter.
- Oversee the IT functions of the organization
- Provide professional and personal growth opportunities for the accounting team.
- Participate in grant oversight by completing the required financial reports.

Supervisory Responsibility
Responsible for the direct supervision of accounting staff.

Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA preferred.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
- Healthcare reimbursement experience preferred
- Experience with grant management and compliance preferred.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud accounting software preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing accounting teams
